These are truly beautiful little fish when seen in peak condition, with the male fish showing off in front of the females. These fish have a real iridescence about them and are best viewed with good lighting. Some reflected light gives the best view, although a flash of sunlight really gives the WOW effect.

Males can be distinguished by their more pointed body cavities, their yellow dorsal and anal fins, which have long filaments, and by the black first rays.
