Red Devil

Red Devil - Photo
Cichlasoma labiatum
HABITS Very similar to and often confused with the C. citrinellum, the Cichlasoma labiatum is also a very large and very mean fish. It too is well known for the hump on its head, which both the males and females have. It remains a mystery as to exactly what role in life the hump plays. These fish are also loners, although there are always exceptions to the rule. The main difference between these two fish is that the Cichlasoma labiatum is more red than yellow and has thicker lips.
SIZE These fish grow to about 10 inches in the wild.
