Probably the most commonly kept fish of its type, they are readily available in aquarium stores around the UK. These fish are nocturnal predators, laying in wait and hidden from view, until dinner swims by, then GULP and it's gone, so be warned. They are fast growing fish with very big mouths, so be sure to chose big tank mates. These fish react badly if you allow the water quality to deteriorate, so keep up the maintenance by using ‘Aquatest’ to help keep the conditions required to enjoy these splendid fish.

These fish can grow up to 45 cm, although specimens are rarely anywhere near this size.
