| HABITS |

Aggressive and territorial, the Texas cichlids live in the lakes and rivers of Texas and Northeast Mexico. Although the juvenile cichlids get along with similarly sized fish, the adults need their own tanks. These fish definitely do best in larger aquariums containing at least 50 gallons. Texas cichlids are also very adaptable to temperatures in the lower end of the scale. There should be areas of rocks and bogwood so they could develop territories and prevent fighting. These fish appreciate floating plants and a sandy substrate. Although hardy fishes, they are sensitive to old water and need frequent water changes to keep them in good health. Use 'Aquatest' to ensure the best water quality for these beautiful fish.
