Banded Gourami
Colisa fasciata
| HABITS |
|
These hardy, peaceful fish fit in well with other species of a similar size. They need plenty of plant cover in their aquarium to feel secure. They also prefer areas with little water movement. Males tend to be territorial towards other males of their own species, so it is best to keep them as a single pair.

| BREEDING |
|
This is your typical bubblenester. The male blows bubbles, often under plant leaves, until a large nest is created. The female is then enticed underneath and the pair embrace. The female will be chased away after laying several hundreds of eggs. The male continues to look after the eggs and fry until they become free swimmers. He should be removed at this time.
