HABITS These fish are well suited to the community tank, although they are not commonly seen in aquarium stores in the UK. They enjoy planted aquariums and they can help keep algae under control by continually grazing on it.

SEXING The females have a large blue-black gravid mark.
BREEDING These fish produce live young in broods between 20 to 40 fry. Their gestation period is between six and seven weeks. The fry should be separated from the adults.
