| HABITS |
These are very peaceful community fish that love to swim in groups in the middle of the aquarium. A planted aquarium with swimming room at the front would be their favourite. Keep them in soft acidic water as it is very important to them.

| SEXING |
The males have a much larger dorsal fin. This difference is not as noticeable as with some of the other easily sexed characins. The ventral and adipose fins are blood-red on the females and black on the males.

| BREEDING |
These fish spawn in thick bundles of plants. For small fish, it is quite prolific with them scattering up to 400 eggs at one spawning. The eggs hatch in little over a day. They are quite susceptible to fungus if they are put into a tank with too much light.
