| HABITS |
One of the hardiest of all the tetra, it makes for one of the best ‘starter fish’, which is a fish that will withstand the conditions in a new aquarium whilst it settles down during the first 4 to 6 weeks. This fish enjoys being in a group and will swim in the front open section of the aquarium. It also makes a good tankmate with most other fish and will reward you with a very long life, given good long term conditions and a good diet.

| BREEDING |
The spawning ritual is a vigorous affair. The fish actively dive together into the dense plant growth and then press their sides together. The quivering female then passes her eggs and the male fertilizes them. They lay some 1,000 eggs which hatch in around 24 hours.
