| HABITS |
Like their cousins the Ancistrus dolichopterus, the Ancistrus lineolatus are so ugly that they appear beautiful. They also reward their owners by spawning right in the community tank. Even though they are great with nearly all other fish, they can also be territorial towards each other, but nothing very seriously. They can be useful workers, eating any missed food as well as algae. What more can you want from a fish? They make an excellent choice for any community aquarium, although it is not recommended keeping them in a planted tank, except when they are very young.

| BREEDING |
These fish often breed in an aquarium while the owner is totally unaware. They love bogwood and often breed hidden right inside the nooks and crannies. The males make really good parents, looking after both the eggs and the fry.
