Cherry Barb
Barbus titteya
| HABITS |
|
This is another Barb that makes a good community fish since it stays small, does not interfere with even the smallest tank mates, is easy to keep, and has nice colouring. It can be a little jumpy, so keep the cover on. It can be kept in pairs or in large groups in bigger aquariums. It shows up best in a planted aquarium with good lighting. A flash of sunlight really brings home the beauty of this easy to keep fish.

| BREEDING |
|
It is not difficult to get these fish to spawn if they have been well treated. Their eggs are scattered into plant thickets and should be removed as soon as possible, as they will be eaten by the parents. Their fry, which are very small, will emerge in around a day and will be free swimming in about a week.
