Dwarf Gourami

Colisa lalia
HABITS Whether you are an expert or beginning aquarist, this is a nice fish to keep. It is very peaceful, but can become shy and retiring if kept with fish that annoy it. You need to supply your tank with lots of good cover, either plants or wood, whilst giving the fish some good open water as well. This fish enjoys a sunny tank and nibbling at algae. It can be a fussy feeder, so follow the sera menu below.
SIZE These fish grow to around 2 inches.

SEXING The male is more brightly coloured than the female.
BREEDING The Dwarf Gourami is unusual among the bubblenest builders in that it includes bits of plants, twigs and other debris in its nest. The result is a firm bundle that holds together for a long time after the fry are hatched. The female should be removed after spawning, letting the male sort things out. The eggs hatch in a day and the fry free swim in around 3 to 5 days.
