These fish put on a really colourful show in a small community aquarium, although they do best in a small group. They mix well and show off to their best in a quiet planted tank.

The maximum size these fish grow to is about 3 cm.

| SEXING |
|
It is not easy to distinguish between the sexes, although there are some minor differences. The female has a slightly heavier body and the male has more red in the dorsal and anal fins.

| BREEDING |
|
Breeding is difficult because the parents tend to eat their eggs and because the eggs, having little adhesive power, fall to the bottom of the tank. As the young are very small when they hatch, this makes it difficult to feed them.
