THE FISH
Giant Danio
Danio aequipinnatus
| HABITS |
|
Although these fish are the largest of the Danio family, they still make good community fish, with only the very small or baby fish needing to be worried about. When kept in a reasonably sized group, they will give you plenty of action. You had just better hope you do not ever have to catch them! They feed in a real frenzy, which is good fun to watch. They like open space, but look really good against a darker background with some reflected light.

| BREEDING |
|
These Giant Danio lay adhesive eggs in the manner of the barb species. Water should always be fresh and clear and the bottom of the aquarium should be covered with marbles or pebbles, because these fish sometimes spawn in open areas and the eggs could be eaten. These fish can lay as many as 1,000 eggs!
