Harliquin

Harliquin - Photo
Rasbora heteromorpha
HABITS This is one of the long established favourites of the hobbyist and it is easy to see why. It has much to offer: colour, shape, ease of keeping, and is a perfect community fish. The Harlequin lives best in a group and in a quiet, softly acidic, planted aquarium with other non-aggressive fish. Once established in your aquarium, this fish will give you a long, trouble-free life.
SIZE These fish grow to around 5 cm.

SEXING The sexes can usually be distinguished by a fine gold line along the upper part of the triangle in the males and by the females' heavier, deeper bodies.
BREEDING Eggs are usually laid on the underside of a plant leaf and afterwards ignored by both parents. The fry hatch in 24 to 26 hours and should be given infusoria feeds at first.
