It should be kept as a shoal. It is a relatively easy fish to keep as it mixes well, but can grow a little too large for small aquariums.
SIZE This fish grows to around 3 inches in an aquarium, but can reach up to 6 inches in the wild or in larger aquariums.

SEXING The male has a dark red 'hem' to its fins while the female is generally less colourful.
BREEDING These fish lay their eggs in a 'free spawning' manner. They generally ignore the eggs and fry. It is easy to bring the fry along by feeding them brine shrimp nauplii.
