Bumblebee Fish - Photo
Brachygobius xanthozona
HABITS Since these fish need harder or slightly salted water, they are not considered to be community fish. They can be quite shy, but can also be fun as they perform 'Goby' antics. They are very different from your run-of-the-mill fish in that they 'sit' in their little hide outs, rather than swim around all day, coming out only when food is around.
SIZE These fish grow up to 2 inches

SEXING The female is stockier than the male.
BREEDING The female lays some 200 to 300 eggs, usually in groups, on rocks. The male is the better parent, so the female should be removed after spawning. The eggs hatch within a few days and the fry become free swimmers after another two days.
