THE FISH
Figure-eight Puffer
Tetraodon palembangensis
| HABITS |
|
This fish really does better in a brackish water aquarium. As the name implies, it has the ability to puff into a ball, which is purely a defensive mechanism. Sadly, many fishkeeper buy this fish only to find it does not fit in well with their other fish. The larger ones, especially, can be aggressive. Coupled with this fact, it does better with different water quality than the run-of-the-mill fish. This one is best left in the store unless you wish to specialise.
