THE FISH

J. dickfeldi

Julidochromis dickfeldi
HABITS After choosing an area of rocks for their territory, these Lake fish cling to it and defend it against all other fish, especially when mating. Human hands have even been know to have been bitten if they venture too close. Sadly, the marriage does not always survive over time, and the weaker fish suffers badly. The only sure cure is a 'Divorce' in which one of the pair is taken back to the store and replaced. Hopefully, and with a lot of prayers, the second arranged marriage works out better than the first.
SIZE These fish grow to around 3 to 3.5 inches.
FOOD See recommended sera Foods below. When using sera Granumeat, it is a good idea to soften it in water or sera Fishtamin before feeding!

SEXING Although sexing is difficult, in most cases the female is larger and has a thicker body.
BREEDING These fish spawn in caves, guarding the fry until they are around 1 inch long. They will allow older fry to stay in the territory together with their smaller brothers and sisters.
