J. transcriptus
Julidochromis transcriptus
| HABITS |
|
Like most lake fish, these guys do best in very large aquariums with lots of rock work where they try to duplicate their natural lake environment whenever possible. These fish will pick an area within your aquarium and guard it closely. They spend most of their lives only inches from the rock they call home. This protectionism towards their personal space increases in intensity when the fish mate, even to the point where they will actually bite their owner. It is often difficult to actually pair these fish so sometimes the best solution is to remove one of the fish and try again.
