SEXING These fish are less distinctive than some of the other Lake Malawi cichlids. The males have the so-called eggs spots on the anal fin.
BREEDING The male only associates with the female for a very short time during the spawning and fertilisation procedure. Once fertilisation has occurred, the male leaves the female to her own devices relating to brood care.
