THE FISH

Adonis

Adonis - Photo
Acanthicus adonis
HABITS This gentle ‘Giant’ of a fish is covered in an amazing array of protective spikes. You need to get right up close to it to appreciate what a wonderful fish the ‘Adonis’ really is. It is covered with white spots when small, but many lose them as they mature. It grows the most amazing fin and tail extensions as it gets larger. This is an easy fish to keep, but keep in mind that since it is wild caught from the Amazon, it is best to feed it the very best food available and to replicate its natural water conditions so that it will reward you with hours of fascination.
SIZE This fish grows between 40 and 60 cm long.
