THE FISH

Kribensis

Kribensis - Photo
Pelvicachromis pulcher
HABITS This fish is peaceful but likes to dig under rocks.
SIZE Males can grow up to 8 cm and females to 6 cm.
SEXING The male is larger, more slender, and has a broader forehead than the female. There is a silvery, gold-tinted stripe on the edge of his dorsal fin that ends in the point. On the upper part of the tail fin there are one to five round dark spots.
BREEDING When first attempting to spawn a pair, it is best to keep them in separate tanks until the female becomes heavy with eggs. The best spawning site is a flowerpot, set upside down on the bottom of the tank.
