Ticto Barb

Ticto Barb - Photo
Barbus ticto stoliczkae
HABITS Although it is not seen as often as it used to be in fish keeping, the Ticto Barb can be a really stunning fish to see under the right conditions. The Ticto, as do most of the Barb family that comes from Southeast Asia, loves soft acidic water. A mid water swimmer that does best in a small group, it generally minds its own business. If fed well, it colours up well, especially with the sera natural colour enhancing foods listed below. It enjoys a planted tank with a darker background. Some reflected light will show off this little fish at its best.
SIZE This fish grows to around 2 inches.

SEXING The males are more brightly coloured and slimmer than the females.
BREEDING The Ticto Barb breeds with the normal Barb technique of scattering hundreds of eggs in the planted area. These eggs hatch quickly and are eaten if not removed.
