DECORATING THE AQUARIUM

For those of you who wish to use artificial plants and décor. There is a great variety from which to choose and, if selected carefully, you can give your fish just as much scope to set up their territories, whilst at the same time having the advantage of enabling instant aquascaping. You can, of course, use both natural and artificial décor and you can always build up the ornamentation and decoration over time so you don't have to do all your aquascaping at the outset- it's really a matter of what you like to do best and we're sure your fish won't mind whatever you chose.

Those of you that choose the aquatic plant root will derive much satisfaction from successfully growing aquarium plants and many of the fish like them too, setting up their territories amongst the foliage. However it has to be said that some aquarists find it difficult to achieve any real success with aquarium plants and there is also the problem some types of fish you may wish to keep may, in fact, eat the plants. If you are to be successful at keeping aquatic plants you will need to get the balance just right, correct water chemistry, correct lighting, correct fertilisation and of course the right mix of fish, please use the 'Plant' section of this site to find out your needs.
